Brunswick West & Collingwood / Fitzroy

Elastic replacement & adjustments.

Restore a waistband or cuff that has lost its stretch. Bring the item in so we can check how the elastic is attached and discuss a comfortable fit.

What we can help with

Waistbands

Replace worn elastic in pants, skirts or shorts, or adjust the tension where the construction allows. We check the casing and surrounding stitching too.

Cuffs and ankles

Discuss stretched cuffs and ankle openings on everyday clothing or workwear. Access to the elastic affects the work required.

Delicate and stretch garments

Bring lingerie, swimwear or activewear for assessment. The fabric and type of elastic need to work together; suitability is checked individually.

Adding elastic or panels

An added elastic section may change comfort and fit, but also the appearance. We will discuss the construction and finish before starting.

How much does it cost?

Elastic type, access to the casing, fabric condition and any additional panels affect pricing.

We assess the item and explain the price before you leave it with us. If you are comparing options, bring the garment in for a quote based on the actual work required.

Your questions

Can the elastic be replaced without changing the outside?

Sometimes. Elastic sewn directly into a waistband can require more work than elastic inside a separate casing.

Do you work on swimwear elastic?

Bring the item for assessment so we can check its condition and a suitable elastic and finish.

How long will the work take?

Timing depends on the item, work involved and current workload. Tell us your deadline when you enquire; the shop will confirm availability and any express surcharge before you proceed.
