Brunswick West & Collingwood / Fitzroy

Leather & suede alterations.

Leather and suede need a considered approach. Bring your jacket, skirt or trousers in so we can assess the material, construction and changes you have in mind.

What we can help with

Fit and length

Discuss sleeve length, hems and body fit. Existing stitch holes, panels and seam allowance can limit changes, particularly when letting a garment out.

Seams and patch repairs

We assess tears, worn areas and damaged stitching before suggesting reinforcement or a patch. The repair may remain visible; we explain the likely appearance first.

Linings and zips

A worn lining or failed zip does not always mean replacing the garment. Ask about relining and suitable replacement zips.

Pockets and other changes

Discuss pocket changes or restyling with the actual item in hand. Matching material and the condition of the leather affect what can be done.

How much does it cost?

Material thickness, condition, lining, access to seams and replacement components determine the work involved.

We assess the item and explain the price before you leave it with us. If you are comparing options, bring the garment in for a quote based on the actual work required.

Your questions

Will the old stitching disappear?

Not necessarily. Needle holes and colour differences may remain visible, so we discuss them before altering leather or suede.

Can you replace a leather jacket zip?

We can assess the jacket and required zip. The construction and availability of a suitable replacement affect the quote and timing.

How long will the work take?

Timing depends on the item, work involved and current workload. Tell us your deadline when you enquire; the shop will confirm availability and any express surcharge before you proceed.
